2. What we process, why, and on what basis

Medio Hippie is a travel blog and we collect as little as possible:

  • If you email us: we process your name, email and message, solely to handle and reply to your enquiry. Basis: your consent in contacting us and our legitimate interest in replying. (The site has no forms; contact is by email.)
  • Technical browsing data: our hosting/security provider (Cloudflare) logs technical data such as your IP to serve and protect the site. Basis: legitimate interest.
  • Visitor statistics: we use Rybbit, an open-source analytics tool that we host on our own server in Finland. It sets no cookies, and we don’t share this data with Google or any advertising network. We store each visit individually rather than totals only: the page viewed and its title, the page you came from, your browser language, your screen size and, derived from your IP address and browser, your country, region and approximate city, plus your device type, operating system and browser. Your IP address itself is never stored; it is used only as the visit arrives, to derive those details. Basis: legitimate interest.
  • Interactions: alongside visits we record some interactions on the site: clicks on affiliate links (the post you click from and the destination), clicks through to other posts, travel-partner blocks appearing on screen, and clicks on links that lead off the site. We also record whether you accept or reject the cookie notice. Basis: legitimate interest.
  • Identifiers: to group the pages of a single visit, the tool derives a pseudonymous identifier from your IP address and browser. It carries no name or directly identifying details, but it is pseudonymous personal data and we treat it as such. Nothing is stored on your device: the tool sets no cookies and uses no browser local storage. Nor is this identifier shared with third parties. Basis: legitimate interest.
  • Affiliate partner content: some posts include travel-partner content via Travelpayouts (e.g. GetYourGuide). It loads only if you accept cookies; those third parties then process data under their own policies (see the Cookie Policy).

We do not collect comments, newsletter sign-ups or payment data, and we don’t sell products directly.

3. Retention

Only as long as necessary for the purpose (e.g. contact emails for the exchange and a reasonable period after) or as legally required.

Visitor statistics are kept for as long as the blog is running, because their value lies precisely in being able to compare long periods.

4. Recipients / processors

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, CDN and security.
  • Hetzner — the server in Finland where we host our analytics tool and nothing else. It does not host the website itself, which runs on Cloudflare, and visitor statistics never leave it.
  • Our email provider — handling the emails you send us.
  • Affiliate partners (only with your consent) — Travelpayouts, GetYourGuide and other travel partners (see Cookie Policy).

We don’t share your data with third parties except where legally required.

5. International transfers

Some providers (e.g. Cloudflare) may process data outside the EEA, with GDPR-required safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses). Visitor statistics, by contrast, stay entirely within the EEA: they are processed and stored on our server in Finland.

6. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability by emailing info@mediohippie.com. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) at www.aepd.es.

We may update this for technical or legal reasons; the date is shown above.
