Our Stay at Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel in Prague
Our honest review of the Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel in Prague: rooms, location by Charles Bridge, and what we liked least.

During our trip to the city of a hundred spires, we stayed at the Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel. Right next to the famous Charles Bridge, this beautiful hotel is perfect for travellers looking for stylish, central accommodation in Prague. I'll walk you through every detail of our stay at Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel in this post.

Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel
Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel is set in the heart of Prague, in the lively Malá Strana district, just steps from the iconic Charles Bridge. This charming hotel occupies a 13th-century townhouse that was fully renovated in 2023. With just 8 rooms, each individually styled, it's the ideal place for anyone after a luxurious, peaceful stay in one of Europe's most beautiful cities, Prague.
Tip
If this has convinced you, I'd book soon — the hotel only has 8 rooms, and just 3 of those sleep 4 people.

The Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel is well connected to the rest of the city. From Václav Havel Airport, you can take a taxi or a private transfer, which will take you straight to the hotel in around 30 minutes. If you'd rather use public transport, take the bus to Nádraží Veleslavín metro station and then the metro to Malostranská, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. If you arrive by train at Prague Central Station, as we did, it's about 15 minutes by taxi or public transport. We prefer to walk, and it took us around 25 minutes.
Check-in
Check-in at Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel is from 2pm. If you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at reception, on Mostecká 4, right opposite the hotel, until your room is ready.
For us, check-in was a pretty simple process. Before we arrived, they emailed us to complete online check-in. We also received a code that opened both the building's main door and our room. Once inside, we found a key card, which turned out to be much more convenient than entering the code every time we wanted to open the door.
If you prefer a more personal check-in, the tourist office on Mostecká 4, right opposite the hotel, can check you in the traditional way. Whatever you need during your stay, the hotel staff are always on hand.

Room types
The hotel has 8 rooms, each with its own style, designed around the old, historic structure of the house — which makes staying here a one-of-a-kind experience.
Our room
We stayed in the Royal Suite on the third floor, room number 6, which sleeps 4. It's a spacious, bright and very cosy room. As you walk in, there's a sitting area with an antique wooden wardrobe, a comfortable sofa and two armchairs. The bathroom is on the right, and at the back, two double beds with two bedside tables and a desk with a mirror.

The wood-beamed ceiling gives it a special charm. It also comes with a TV with Netflix, a safe, a minibar/fridge, a kettle and a capsule coffee machine. Under the TV there's a small table with cups and a little box of tea bags. Next to the sofa, a small unit holds cups, the kettle and the capsule coffee machine — with a range of capsules that, by the way, get restocked daily.
The room has several windows, which makes it a very bright space. Despite being in a very central area, the room is quiet, and with the windows closed you can't hear any noise at all. The room doesn't have air conditioning, but there is a small portable unit. Housekeeping is daily.
The beds are incredibly comfortable, with soft bedding and down duvets that make the room feel really cosy. Sleeping in them was like sleeping on a cloud — an absolute treat.

By the way, only 3 rooms sleep 4 people, so if you're travelling as a family, I'd book as early as you can.
The bathroom is spacious and elegant, decorated in black and white with a wooden ceiling. It has a shower, hairdryer, robes and slippers, and toiletries (gel, shampoo, body lotion, dental kit, ear plugs, make-up remover pads and shower caps). By the way, the toiletries are by Manufaktura, a brand inspired by Czech history, tradition and nature, made mainly from natural, environmentally friendly ingredients.

Breakfast
The hotel serves a lovely breakfast at the Three Storks restaurant nearby, well known for its excellent food. We preferred to have breakfast out each day, so we could discover Prague's wonderful cafés.
Tips
- Each room is different, so check the description of each one carefully, and book the one that best suits your needs and taste.
- The stairs are narrow and a little steep — if you need a hand with your luggage, don't hesitate to ask reception.

The downsides of the Domus Balthasar Design Hotel
The Domus Balthasar Boutique Hotel is a wonderful place, and one I'd definitely recommend if you're visiting Prague — but as you know, I also like to tell you about the less positive side of the places we stay.
- The hotel has no lift, and no air conditioning — though that's understandable, since it's set in a historic building where this kind of work probably isn't possible.
- In some parts of our room, mainly at the entrance door and the bathroom door, the ceiling is a bit low. For me that's not a problem, since I'm not very tall, but Dad bumped his head a few times, ha!
